VI COMMANDO

L/Cpl. Horace C. Cartlidge

L/Sgt. Horace Cartlidge, formerly of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own), served with No. 6 Commando.

Horace was killed in an accidental grenade explosion whilst onboard HMS Prince Charles on route to the aborted Commando raid on Florø ( Norway ) on Tuesday, 9th December 1941 . Horace was the son of Sydney and Clara Cartlidge, of Ferrybridge, Yorkshire .

Horrace was laid to rest in Lerwick New Cemetery , Zetland (Shetland) Terrace 7B. Grave 10.
